DESCRIPTION

Elyse, my sister-in-law, reached out seeking an elegant and refined wedding invitation suite. Since the wedding reception took place at a beautifully charming and historical venue, I took the opportunity to include intentional hand drawn illustrations. Photography spotlighted throughout this page was shot by Mary Kate, sister of the bride and owner of Littlest Flower Photography. See more of her work at littlestflower.com.

COLOR PALETTE inspiration

The color palette for this invitation suite of course had to match the bridesmaid dresses and accents found in the detail shots. Elyse chose a beautiful peacock teal, perfect for an enchanting July wedding. I decided to spotlight this color utilizing a monotone color scheme with an accent of pure white.

THE VENUE

The wedding reception took place at Historic Shady Lane, an elegant 34-acre estate steeped in rich history and class. Elyse requested a toile pattern which I thought paired perfectly with the feel of the venue.

The glass greenhouse is a staple of the venue, bringing timeless character from the 1890s. Cocktail hour was to be held here, so I knew this would be an essential addition to the illustration set.

THE GREENHOUSE

peonies, hydrangeas & calla lilies

Flowers add such elegance to the most special day. The bridal bouquet consisted of a stunning arrangement of peonies while the bridesmaids carried bunches of calla lilies. Hydrangea arrangements were seen on the altar during the wedding Mass. It was important to add these beautiful flowers into the suite.
